  • Try coastal Hwy 98 from St. Marks Lighthouse, south of Tallahassee, west to Mexico Bch. Lots of forest, sleepy fishing villages, miles of white sandy beaches where you can stop, take a walk, do a little fishing or take a dip. There's a small working waterfront, so the dives are well stocked with fresh seafood. Along with the residents, you too, can stock your freezer from the fish houses. Several SPs and a city park along that stretch. Ho Hum RV park is popular with the snowbirds. Old Florida along the seashore as it was 50-60 years ago. Enjoy.
  • 20 miles from US19, and 35 miles to the nearest town. Very quiet. If you like fishing, kayaking and seclusion, it's the place. If you like stuff to do, go in the panhandle or farther south to where there are beaches.
If you don't care about salt water or beaches, we like Yellow Jacket RV park near Old Town. On the Suwannee River. Old Florida charm. About 9 miles from US19. www.yellowjacketrvresort.com
  • We are down in Fort Myers Beach. Lots of great RV parks, some right on the gulf of Mexico. We moved here full time 2 years ago and love the location. Easy to RV down into the Keys or across to the Atlantic. During the season it does get very busy around the beach area but there is so much more than just the beach here to enjoy.
  • Steinhatchee is a small town on the Gulf coast and on the Steinhatchee River. There are no real beaches nearby. But if you like boating and fishing on the Gulf then you'll find plenty to do. Off hand I'd say there is not much else to do in the area. No hiking, springs or parks for example.

It is also well away from any bigger towns, the nearest would probably be Perry which would be an hour or so away. I don't recall seeing any major supermarkets or theaters there in Steinhatchee.

My wife had some relatives who lived there and we live about an hour away.
  • It is the kinda town that ya take your bike and fishin pole and ride around lookin for another old fool to talk to . I think they just got a new Dollar General Store , whoopee !
  • Very nice small town . Several campgrounds . Not a TOURIST TRAP . Probably no swimming pools or Wal-Marts . Mostly a fishing village , laid back . Probably fifty miles to a hospital and Wal-Mart in Perry Fl. Several even smaller towns close by .
  • We like the Panhandle of Florida. Cape San Blas especially. Dog friendly beaches ( a rarity ) and no high rises or much of anything else. St Joe Pennisula Park is beautiful, natural and very few people.
  • What are you looking for, beaches? attractions? more info & I'll help you as I live in FL
