We camp in your area several times a year and some places they also use really thick wood. Last summer DW ordered some "oil cloth". Just cut to the length you need. And some of these http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/table-bungees-2-pack/69829
I wish we would of done so many years ago. She ordered more than I thought we needed but the stuff comes in handy. 1 is about 10 foot long for picnic tables. Extra length just hangs over edge. And 1 piece is for our portable table.
I thought some people found a really thick table cloth and we couldn't find at local fabric stores. Finally asked someone we saw with one. We found out it is called "oil cloth". Folds nice, washable and will last for years.
