Looking for a RV park on 301

Tuckahoe State Park in Maryland is not far off Rt 301 before you get to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It has w/e hookups. As long as it is not Friday or Saturday you should have no trouble getting a site. There is also a Flying J where you get back on i_95 north of Richmond.

We have a Walmart here in Middletown, De right next to route 301. Lots of RV spend the night there.
Easy in easy out, pick up some things you might need with no sales tax here in Delaware.
My friends from NJ use this one quite frequently.

Thanks I think Ashland may be the easiest spot to stay, been there before on our return trips.

That might be too close to your start point, but there is really nothing along 301 in Del or Maryland. There is a cg just north of Richmond on I 95 - Ashland - now a KOA, I believe. If you plan to hook onto 95 this cg is just about 10 miles from 301/95.

There is a really nice state park (Smallwood State Park) about 15 miles west of LaPlata, MD (which is about 12 miles north of the Harry Nice Bridge). You would take Hwy 225 (Hawthorne Rd) and then Hwy 224 (Chicamuxen Rd) to get to the state park, so it is all easy driving on super wide 2-lane roads.

We live about 7 miles from Smallwood State Park, so we stay often. Huge sites, water + 30amp, dump site on your way out. VERY quiet. We have a 43' long fifth wheel that is 13'6" tall and we can fit on a bunch of the sites, even though they say max length 30'. The sites have enough room for the camper, tow vehicle AND an extra vehicle.

Lums Pond only has 5 or 6 sites with electric and only a water fill area so plan ahead. The campground at the Nice bridge I am not sure if they are open anymore.
In Md a short ride off 301 is Duncan's Campground folks give them a so so review but for an overnight it should be fine. Kings Dominion campground is open year round,many folks use it on the way to Fl.

Never stayed at any of them, but there are a couple of campgrounds in the Bowling Green area. Kings Dominion has a campground, not sure what their season is. There is also a Fam-Camp at Fort A.P. Hill if you can use military campgrounds.

We prefer the Bay Bridge Tunnel Route.

Never stayed, but a CG on the north side of the Potomac right at the bridge before you cross into Va. I think it's the Harry Nice bridge.
