Looking for affordable rv parking in San Fransisco area

My husband just accepted a temporary summer job in south San Fransisco and was hoping to stay in our motorhome while he is working there. We live about 2 1/2 hours from where he will be working but he doesnt want to make the daily commute. He will be in SF 4 days a week and home 3 days a week but wants to leave the motorhome there and travel to and from home in his car. RV parks are pricey, he could get an apartment for the price they want to charge, so we are hoping for some other options. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • First, you don't want to translate the daily rate into what you need. Ask the park you would like to stay for a monthly rate and tell them how many months you need to be there. Normally there is a very sustantial difference between daily, weekly and monthly rates.
  • If you're working in SSF, there are a couple of small parks just south of there and even right in town but they're not too nice. You'd be much better off going to Redwood City, only about 15+ miles south of SSF and there are a couple of nice parks for permanent and long term campers. Trailer Villa, Harbor Village are a few. I see the TV park is about $850-1000/month.

I would not go to Fairfield or Pleasanton, both are a bridge commute with lots of traffic. Bridge tolls are $6 now.
  • Two words that don't belong together is 'affordable' and 'San Fransisco'. :B

All things considered the rates are much higher in California in general and even higher any where's near the cities. Staying in a CG in California is not going to be a less expensive route for you.

Search Mobile home parks too. Some have allotted spaces for RV's and might be cheaper than a tourist CG. Sadly I think the rental in town IS going to be your less expensive way to pull this off.
  • Thanks for your response. We have found most places in the bay area to be $65 a night and up which amounts to around $2000 a month so he would be better off getting an apartment in the city. I know the KOA in south SF was $75 a night but ill check on Petaluma. Living in an rv has to be more affordabke than vacationing in one. :-)
  • we've enjoyed Petaluma KOA on many visits to SF. I don't know what you consider affordable.
    Best to you and yours.
