Looking for Camping just outside Seattle area

Still in the process of figuring out where to camp when we go to Seattle on vacation
thought about some state parks inside the city and outside
Tall Chief
Tinkham Campground to name a couple
just not able to find enough info about any of them
We have a 30 ft th wheel,
2 boys 12-14
would like something fairly clean, family friendly
does not have to need power or water as we can be self contained for a few days
Thank you

  • Tall Chief has nice pool 30 amp and water. Have pump out service or dump station. Easy drive to city. KOA is very tight, we couldn't put awning out because sites so small. Dash Point is a hole and a long drive to city. Lake Pleasant is nice traffic can be a problem. Been going to Seattle every summer for 10 years. Blue sky is OK not much for the kids.
  • We are headed there in a couplw weeks. Did Dash Point SP last time. Nice park. Planning on doing Saltwater? this time. It is a little closer but apparently right under the final approach for Seatac airport. Good reviews otherwise
  • Try Palmer Kanaskit State park. Just east o Kent Wa. Nice secluded State park.
  • Go for Lake Pleasant. It is really the only viable choice and close to Seattle. The traffic from the east side is terrible particularly with the bridge construction going on.
  • Any one know about these GC

  • Snoqualmie River CG

Nice spot near tons of activities. Float the Snoqualmie River, Snoqualmie Falls, Hiking and biking trails, golfing, fishing, etc. All in a semi rural setting yet close to I-90 and a short drive (25 miles) into Seattle.

  • In '97, we found a small state park right on the Sound. As I remember it was a little south of Seattle. Saltwater sound about right. Or Dash Point. We only used it for an overnight.

We did a visit with a cousin in 2010 (Flying back from Alaska). This old post has some photos taken in the area & places we got to see: Please Click to See. We saw some nice campgrounds by Mount Rainer as we drove by them.

We did some exploring from Sequim Bay by taking a Ferry to Seattle. On a previous trip.
  • There's a Seattle Tacoma KOA listed. It's a little south and east of SEA TAC airport and it looks decent in my Google Earth picture.
