We were gypsies last year and wandered all over mid to South AZ. We never made any reservations anywhere as that would ruin the ability to be spontaneous. We did not have any problems finding places to stay. State Parks are great and as we don't need hook-ups, they were economical.
We also stayed in a few private rv parks but most of the high end "resort" parks wold not allow us because of some stupid rule about campers. Our unit is worth more than many of the older trailers they had there. we decided they were not the place for us anyway.
An example of why we don't make reservations: Went to a park for 2 days and stayed for 10 because the people staying there were so much fun. Made many friends there.
Wandering lets you experience some great places and prevents boredom. Go have a great time.
