Looking for Virginia campground suggestions
Looking for a Virginia CG to visit over a long weekend.Hopefully within a 3 hour drive from Raleigh. Full hookup required. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mapquest shows it at 2 hrs, 55 minutes from Raleigh: Holiday Lake SP near Appomattox, VA is lovely. They only have a handful of full hookup sites, but many more electric/water, with a dump station handy. Lovely big sites for the full hookups, not packed closely together, new bath house, hiking trails, swimming in the lake, about 10 miles from the Appomattox Court House NP where Lee surrendered to Grant ending the Civil War.
Also, there's James River State Park, maybe 20 minutes farther away. The Redbud campground is only a few years old w/ full hookups, but hard to get reservations, as it is popular.
Do get on the VA state parks reservations system and reserve your site for either.
Both of these parks are only water and electric. Most of the sites at Red Oak at James River will accommodate any size rig. Holiday Lake is much older and most of the sites are fairly small but they did add a few larger sites a couple years back if size is any issue.
