Ive never been to Lyndhurst so I can't comment on the locals. I think you're jumping to the conclusion that they're all god awful RV haters is a bit extreme though.
You have no idea who called in homeland security, it could have been the local law enforcement. You have to consider how it looked. Some guy pulls into a park with a tc, then hops in back for hours. Could be someone plotting something could be nothing. But, you're awful close to nyc which is a constant terrorist target.
Once homeland security is called, they're going to assume the worst. No different than if local law enforcement is called.
Bottom line, did they chase you off or accept your explanation and allow you to stay?
