- michigansandzilExplorerWe stayed at Wilderness SP when we visited Mackinac Island. It is approx 20 minutes away from the city and in the woods, so pretty perfect for us. Here's a pic of the view from our campsite during the day on Lake Michigan
And a view from our campsite after sunset - dodge_guyExplorer II

We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping with our camping buddies from July 1-6 and enjoyed the place. We had end sites between loops 7 & 8 that had the bridge/island view that we had to book on labor day of 2013. I personally would not want to be in any of the interior sites near where we were as its pretty packed in. Some of the other sites in the campground seem quite nice but we really want that lake view. We are planning on going there next August and book the same sites (if possible).

Glad you posted those pics. those are the only sites that have the bridge/island view that are nice! we had a site behind the "packed in" "bridge view" sites. those sites were very good size and depending on how it was laid out you could still see the island. - noe-placeExplorerI tried to get into MM and it's booked solid for the foreseeable future according to the guy who answered.

Very nice park on the water that feels like it is miles from town but is actually in St. Ignace.
I cannot comment on other parks in the area as I have only camped there once and only at this park. Regardless, the island is a lot of fun and taking a drive about 15 minutes west on US-2 gets you to some of the nicest sand beaches in the country.
Have a great trip. - dodge_guyExplorer IIYep, Mill Creek is by far the best! enjoy the area. whatever you do don`t get the "bridge view" sites on the western end of the campground! unless you want to cover your neighbors RV with your awning!!!
Have fun! - bigred1cavExplorerThanks to all of you. Looks like MC is consensus.
- mleekampExplorerWe are booked for Mackinaw Mill Creek week of Aug 9-13. First time, so can't wait. We will do a day trip to Mackinac Island (we stayed on the island in 2001) and do sightseeing on the mainland too.
I booked Mill Creek due to recommendations on this site. - GGeorgeExplorerdefinately MMC. Wife and I stayed there 3 years ago and had a great time. Within walking distance to ferry and staff were helpful and always available. We were there during 4th of July holiday and sat on the beach and saw 6 different cities fireworks from the shore/beach at MMC.
- travelnutzExplorer IIMackinaw Mill Creek has FHU and water and electric sites. Over 600 sites as I just looked it up and we've stay there several times but you don't just count the sites. The MH sites are quite close together but adequate. Very good place to use as a base but only mediocure if all you do is sit at your site. So much to do in the 50-60 mile radius area of even day trips that 2 weeks isn't enough to do half of it. Very scenic area and you can see the huge bridge from perhaps more than half the sites. Depends on tree growth and the trimming done.
Edited: Over 600, not 400 sites
