Mackinac island

Since there are no RV campgrounds on the island; we stay at Mackinac Mill Creek Campground near Mackinac city. Great park with great variety of sites. Free shuttle to the ferries and bicycle access to several other historic parks.

X2. Mackinaw Mill Creek is great. We rode our bikes up to the ferry to go over to the Island. It is a HUGE rv park. If you are going peak season, you might get lucky if you try and reserve now.

We stayed at Beantown RV Park in Door County. It was really nice, but we were there off season, and it was practically empty. Not sure what type of rv park you are looking for, so it might be best to check rv park reviews.

Wagon Trail Campground We have stayed twice here in Door County we like the location

Mackinaw mill creek is the best up there.
As far as door county, we have only stayed at the Jellystone up there. However I haven't heard of any complaints from any of the campgrounds in the door county area. There is a campground on Washington island that is only accessible by ferry. I am wanting to do that next year.

Have you checked out RV Park Reviews? Lots of very good and informative reviews.

Get a waterfront site at Mackinac Mill Creek and enjoy the sunset behind the bridge.

Tiki campground close to the boats to the island and also a Passport America campground clean and quiet. Had a nice stay there last summer. The ferry's will send a van to pick you up with your bikes and return you free of charge.

A couple years ago I stayed at Hy-Land Court RV Park
Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. It was a great park.

This year I will be staying at Castle Rock Lakefront campground at St. Ignace. Can not tell you about it as have never been.

We stayed on the quiet side in St. Ignace @ Lakeshore Park Campground.

In Door County we always stay at Egg Harbor CG that has full hookups in the new section.
For previous posts on this subject search this Forum for Mackinac Island. BTW it is pronounced Mackinaw like the city.

X2 on Egg Harbor CG. We stay there 2-3 times per season. We'll be there this weekend in fact. Hosts Mike & Debbie are great people who really go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Egg Harbor is about as central to Door County as you can get, most everything is within a 20 minute drive.

The only other place in DC that I'd recommend is Peninsula State Park but you'd need to have made reservations last year for anything with electric.

We've been going there for over 30 years. It's sometimes referred to as "Little Cape Cod". Several small towns with harbors, sail boats, and beaches. 5 state parks with pretty good hiking in most of them, lots of restaurants of various prices and cuisine (2 brew pubs, Shipwrecked in Egg Harbor, and Door County Brewing in Baily's Harbor), Several wineries (Door Peninsula Winery is probably one of the best ones), lots of unique shops, art galleries, 3 lighthouses that you can tour, several bike trails and roads that are safe to bike on. A must see is Cave Point County Park.

Check on line most weekends through out the year there is something going on in one of the towns. The best part about Door County is that north of Sturgeon Bay you won't see much in the line of national chains save for gas stations and a couple of hardware stores.
