  • We stayed at Creekside last October for a week. Very nice CG.

  • 1st Pride
    2nd Creekside
These 2 are located beside each other just off I 40 at Exit 20
  • We just left Creekside Farms which is on 276 just off of I40. A few miles from Maggie Valley. Very nice campground, good wifi and very clean and modern.

We've stayed at Stone Bridge the last 2 years for a few weeks in the summer. The place really went down hill last year and we won't be going back. In the 3 weeks we were there last year, they never cleaned the rest room floors, the walls were covered with mold and the roof leaked. The pool was ripped out of the ground and there was only a mud pit where it used to be. Stop at Snappy's restaurant for a great meal, the Wheels through time museum is super if you like antique American made motorcycles. Another outstanding restaurant is in Waynesville called the Chef's Table. Go see the elk in Cataloochee Valley -- best in late afternoon/ early evening.
  • X2 with Joe B. Try the local eateries, they have excellent service, and the food is very tasty. Maggie Valley is a very nice, relaxed place, we visit there often. Safe travels.
  • We always stay at Stonebridge and really like it. Joe b. mentioned Waynesville, a few miles east of Maggie Valley. The Mast General Store there is worth a visit as is Nick & Nate's Pizza.

South of Waynesville heading toward Brevard, you will be in Transylvania County, which is the home of lots of beautiful waterfalls. There's another pretty waterfall between MV and Cherokee (Soco Falls). And you can get on the Blue Ridge Parkway just west of MV.

If you like BBQ, there is a place within walking distance of the Stonebridge RV Park.

We like Maggie Valley because it's close to everything, but not "busy" like Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.
  • A nice place, many campgrounds, Pride, Stonebridge, Hillbilly, Trails end, Whispering Waters and a few more. MV is one of the older tourist areas in the area. Many/most of the campgrounds are older, so the sites can be a bit tight for some of the larger motorhomes of today.

We enjoy the weather in the MV area in the summer time. Close to the Smoky Mtn. National Park. Close to Waynesville, nearby for any and all shopping a person might need to do. All your major car dealerships are there in Waynesville, big box stores, etc.

Not sure what sort of advice you are seeking? A day's trip up to the Cataloochee Valley is superb IMHO. It is inside the boundaries of the NP, but closer to MV. Lots of wildlife, elk, etc and many restored building from past times of folks living and farming the area.

In the past we have stayed at the Prime CG, Stonebridge CG, Whispering Waters CG and would go back to any of them. Trails End looked real nice as well as we drove out to check it out the last time we were in the MV area. We have also stayed at the Winngray CG but won't stay there again, unless there has been a recent change in management. (last stay there was in 2010)
