Big Katuna, agree with you. We also stayed many, many years ago at Bailey's and hated it. First time we had ever heard of "piggyback" sites. But if op has children, might be up his alley. We also have stayed at Wild Duck and enjoyed it, however felt it took us a long time to get to some areas we wanted to explore. Another poster talked about Shore Hills in Boothbay, which we love. Some tent camping, which are at the water, some for smaller rigs, that have plenty of trees and shade, and then an area for big rigs that are pull thurs and back ins. Jean Reny and her staff are very nice. Day trips can be made from Kittery to Belfast. Many great places to eat, shop, see lighthouses from the area. And if you travel with dogs, most resaurants with outdoor seating allow dogs, which we love. If wanting to go to Bar Harbor, I would suggest going farther to find a campground. Boothbay to Bar Harbor is a 4 hour one way drive.
