Maine coast campgrounds- need opinions

We tried to stay at Hid N Pines a few years ago on our way to Bar Harbor, but the voltage at the pedestal was so low, I couldn't run anything without fear of damage. We moved to Baileys and got a site in the back... plenty of room and good power.

Most of the campgrounds up that way are tight.

We have stayed at Hid N Pines many times as a 2 day stopover on our way to Bar Harbor. Some sites are tight but the newer sites down the hill are bigger, but fewer trees. Hid N Pines is well run and well supervised. The restrooms are spotless and free showers. The staff is always friendly and helpfull.

I haven't stayed at either. We usually head up the coast further to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. If you go there I highly recommend Hadley's point campground. Large sites. Very clean and quiet. lot of space for kids to play. not far from either the park or Bar Harbor proper. on the free bus route too. Very nice owners and enough off the beaten trail to be relaxing.

Libby's is tight but sitting behind your Rv with a fire facing the ocean can't be beat.

We disliked Bayleys immensely. Roaming gangs of noisy kids on rented ATV tricycles,
pools were over crowded, dirt mud roads when it rained. The children are not monitored while their parents sit around the fire drinking beer all day. The kids were having a marshmallow gun fight and were climbing on and jumping off our picnic table.
Could not wait to leave. Prepaid a week no refunds.

We moved to Wild Duck. Quiet, paved roads, no kids. Smaller but not crowded spaces.

Bayley's is fine out in back, especially with kids. If no kids and you like things quieter, I'd go to Wild Duck. It's adults only.

As mentioned earlier, the back part of bayleys is newer with larger sites. Can't go wrong with Bayleys as far as activities and amenities. They have a great onsite restaurant where the seafood prices are very very reasonable.

It's a KOA, but Saco Old Orchard KOA is a very nice KOA. Roomy sites, big trees.

Bayley's - go for sites around the south side fishing pond. This CG gets MOBBED during prime season and sometimes your fellow campers can impose.

Hid N Pines - Nicely kept, strictly run campground in a good location with good staff! I like sites furthest from Cascade Rd along the last path in the CG. If you have a large family, be conscious the base price is for 2. Also gets mobbed during prime season.

Wild Acres - simply, a CG affected by the overwhelming majority of seasonals and rental cabins.

We drove through them all when we were there two summers ago. We weren't thrilled with any of them. They are HUGE and all of them seemed to be really close together and they were pricey.

We stayed at Ne're Beach Family Campground, which had really small sites, but they were so much cheaper. It had great wifi, FHU, a small pool, but was right above town, well within easy walking distance. 3 blocks from the water and we walked down to the amusement park several time.

The lobster pound was also just across the street, which was perfect for me!!

It depends what time of year. Bailey's isn't to bad if you go to the new part way in back. If you go up front it's way too loud.

I though Wild Duck wasn't to bad.
