I don't get how it can be cheaper ! You pay the ferry to get to PEI and you pay the Confederation bridge on your way back !

To expand on that and spud1957's response, It doesn't matter whether one goes in on the bridge or on the ferry, one does not pay a fee. When one leaves, one pays for the round trip. The round trip fare for the bridge is at least 40% cheaper than the ferry (assuming vehicle is less than 20 feet in length.) For us, motorhome and toad, the ferry would cost $125, the bridge would cost $63.
