Is the campground high enough to be out of the summer heat?

We stayed a couple of nights in site 16 this summer. It is in the lower section in the middle. The sites on the sides had more shade. The sites are tiered going up the hill. There is a small picnic table and nice landscaping along the rock retaining wall for the sites in the middle section. There are also tent sites and cabins in the woods and the sites at the top with decks. There is a fenced in pet area too. This park is kept very neat and clean. The guy was raking the rock and cleaning the fire pit as soon as a site was vacated. I learned of this RV park on this web site. Great park!

The road to the CG off of 40 is not steep at all. It is a short ride on a windy road. Inside the CG the roads are steep but no big deal...IMHO and I'm a flatlander with a 35' gasser. I did unhook the car before going to the site. Going to the very to is worth it. As OP said it is attention getting on the way down.

Yes that road is steep also.

How steep? Bad? Are you referring to the road to the top spots or all roads? How about going down? Is exit 59 at the base of Black Mountain or above it? Thanks!

Yes that road is steep also.

Pics are Absolutely beautiful. It's on my list to visit this season. We love camping in the SC/NC mountains.
