McKinney Falls State Park, Austin, Texas
I just got home from 4 awesome days at McKinney Falls. I went there for a high school reunion for Taipei American School in Taiwan. I also wanted to hook up with my 23-year-old who lives in Austin. I decided to try McKinney because it would be so much cheaper than staying at the Lonestar Carefree RV resort on 35 where I usually stay. It was a good decision.
The park is beautiful. There are at least 8 miles of trails, two swimming holes, and the sites are really nice. Mine was a pull through. It was very private and as level as you could want.
The park is about 4 miles from I-35. I was shocked when I actually took the same exit I would have for Lonestar. After visiting the downtown area, it was a lot easier to get back to the park. For Lonestar, you have to go south on I-35 all the way to Slaughter Lane and then go back north. It adds almost 5 miles to the trip.
Anyway, I'll be staying at McKinney Falls from now on whenever I am staying over in Austin.
You can read about this trip on my blog site. It will have links to pictures soon.
