Medora Campground?

We also used Red Trail for two nights in 2009 and agree with others in that 1) it's nothing special and 2) we used it as a place to sleep. Was adequate for our needs.

Planing on going out there in june

I stayed at Red Trail. I have 36' A with car and had no problems fitting. Spent time sleeping there only so didn't even check amenities. Time spent exploring the area. Worked well for me.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought I saw electric hook-ups when we drove thru.

If you can drive the wildlife loop an hour or 2 before sunset or early morning. You will see the most at these times.

We were told there was no electricity there. It sounds like a nice enough and quiet place to stay, but we're just concerned about no electric because that would mean no A/C. We're basically just doing a 2-night stopover on the way to Glacier, taking one day to see Theodore Roosevelt National Park too.

I guess I'm not terribly impressed with any of the surrounding campgrounds.

We did an overnight at the Red Trail Campground in Medora July 15th last year. We called at the last minute (we were actually in town when we called) and got an electric only site, which was all we needed. It was a warm day, so the A/C felt good. The campground was nothing special, but we weren't there to sit in a campground.

Medora pool has been closed for a few years now.
The Medora campground on the west side of town is ok. Easy enough for large units to get into. Just hook-ups on dirt roads. Sites are close and no fire pits, just grills on a post. But they do have a shuttle to the musical which helps a lot when you leave the show. There is a waterslide next door. You pay to get in, but they have a large inflatable water slide and some other things to do. My grandkids liked it.
Red Trail is small and tight. Have not stayed there for a few years now, to tight and close.
If you only need electric Sully Creek south of town is a decent State Park. No thing out there but nature. Nice enough if you do not need much. This is where I will stay next time.
There is Cottonwood campground north of town in the National Park. No hook-ups but nice.
Medora is a private owned (non-profit corporation) town set up as a tourist area. Lots of history. The main attraction is the pitchfork fondue and musical. Both of which are worth the price. It is all outdoors, so in ND it can be nice, windy, wet, hot or cold. Make sure you are prepared so what ever the weather is. Even if it is hot during the day nights cool off. Take a jacket or blanket. Still worth going to. Quite a few other things to do during the day. Takes about two days to do and see the things you want to.
