Mercury transit of the Sun May 9th, 2016

Thanks. Even if it could be seen in Pennsylvania, it will probably be cloudy and raining, as usual. :(

Got my Solarmax II ready for the event and they're calling for clear skies for Monday. :)

Thanks for the heads up -- we need to find a remote location far from urban light pollution!

X-2, although it didn't rain here today, from 3:08 to 3:13. :(

Nice! I've got a solar filter for my 8" but not my 5" and I'm too lazy to set up either. It's just a tiny dark disk against a bright ball of fire anyway. ;) Can you take pix through it? If so, post them for those peeps under crying clouds. :D

No joy for me. Anyone have any better luck? It's been about 10 years since the last transit and I don't really remember what I did then. I may have used the welding glass behind my binos. But, as I recall, there were sunspots larger than the disk of Mercury back then.

No pics went out to my daughters school and let the kids have a look at the transit. Needless to say the children were all excited!!! Unfortunately we had maybe an hour then it clouded out for the rest of the day, agh.

Here's a pic I took of first venus transit, the second (last one) venus transit was clouded out.
At the time I didn't have my SolarMax but bought it just before the second transit.

We were clouded out here in the Bay Area, the sun didn't come out until almost 12 Noon. I saw the Venus one back in 2012, while I was in Philadelphia.
