Migration north

Wondering when people are planning on heading back north. Will it be earlier or later than usual? The weather in Canada now suggests not to be in too big a hurry.

  • One of my friends left yesterday to go back to Alberta {I think} he said it was 19 below several days before. I asked why going home so early? He said he wanted to go ice fishing. A lot are leaving the Yuma Foothills now and it will be like it is here in Oct come the 1st of April.
  • You know its time to go when you see the same left overs twice in a row at the pot luck supper.
  • Spring comes a little late to the Adirondacks so we give it plenty of time. We leave Tampa/Clearwater on May 1st and take a month to get to our Summer home. The roads are clear of all ice and traffic, and the RV Parks/Campgrounds are all open but never full.
  • Lots of events are scheduled for March in the RGV to keep us here until the end of the month. A few are already gone, for whatever reason.
  • For March:

    Central & East:

CPC NCEP is showing quite below normal temps for the entire Central US from Texas to North Dakota for March. Also, substantially below normal from Virginia to Maine / Delaware to Illinois & terrible (cold) for the entire Northeast new England area for March.

    West:

Well above average temps in March from Arizona north to British Columbia and the entire West Coast.

...the above from Experimental two-class seasonal forcasts
  • We have had 2 or 3 leave, some will leave just before Easter and some feel they have to be home to do income taxes. We will wait until about May 1st and will be nearly last to leave except for those who choose to stay all Summer.
  • We are headed north within two weeks. Tulips are already coming up back home and we are looking forward to the trip. We normally stay until 1st April but we came down early to see Bryce and Zion etc before it got cold. So our 6 month time limit in the US before US immigration gives us the heave ho is up within a month. We'll try to avoid that confrontation. :)
  • It appears like there is not really any change here in our area. The migration actually started about 2 weeks ago with some, then picked up Fri, Sat and today, the end of the month. The masses will start out in about 2 weeks and the place will be a ghost town by the end of the month. We will be among the last group to leave, when we vacate the first week of April. Most of our park is from the western provinces, with just a couple folks from Quebec and Ontario. Also, most of them take 2 - 3 weeks on the return journey, where we take just 2 easy days.
  • We have seen a few winter texans leave, but most are planning later departures which is causing some to have to move to different sites. Normally mid-march is the major launch. For the first time in 7 years we aren't leaving! Staying put till further notice :)
