Military Campgrounds current base sticker policy?

The experiences are all over the place. Here is one more. My decals expire this month. I went to Pass and ID on Ft. Lewis, WA to renew them and was told the DOD sticker is all that is required anymore, not necessary to renew anything every two or three years as was the practice in the past.
