Last spring I tried to make reservations at the Navy campground at Key West. I was told that
spaces were first come first serve red and that a valid DoD registration decal would be required for entry. I tried to get the registration at Redstone Arsenal which is close to where I live. No dice. They don't require registration and don't have the ability to issue one. When we got to Key West, we were told we could get a registration at Boca Chica Navy Base. When we went there, we were informed that they only issue to those with valid orders assigning personnel to NAS Key West. Long story short: no DoD Decal no admission to NAS Key West. But getting that decal is next to impossible. kinda puts us retirees out of the military installation camping in many places.
