Military Campgrounds current base sticker policy?

Our windshield stickers for both the CRV and the MH expire next year. I've heard that the Air Force only requires an ID card (DD Form 2 retired) now. The DW has her DEERS card available also. It's a 1...

Something seems strange about that. The website states that all you need is vehicle registration and proof of insurance. Did you attempt to get in by asking for a temporary vehicle pass?
