Moab, Canyonlands & Arches

We are going to be spending 4 days in May in the Moab area during our trip west and would like to get some campground suggestions from those with experience there. We could stay in Arches National Park but the campground is way north and we would prefer to have the more central location in Moab. There seem to be 8-10 choices around Moab but we would like to get some opinions.

We've spent a couple of nights in Arches Campground (which is one of the most scenic campgrounds in the national Parks Sysytem) and then moved to Moab to a FHU commercial RV park. The advantage is that staying inside Arches gives you a leg up on visiting the park, and less drive time to and from the park. See my sig picture for an example of one of the campsites.

Did you try searching for Moab in the RV Parks section?

You're tilting at windmills, for one thing (for example, this post would come up, and clog the works), and for another, many, many times, the searches are futile, especially for larger parks like Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc, the results are so vast as to be useless.
  • We stayed at Pack Creek Campground after being ousted from Fed. campgrounds. It's an older one, cheaper, but the NEW owners are working their butts off to make it nice. The reports on it are the results of uncaring owners.....give the new ones a chance. :)It's more central to Moab, etc.

Arches RV park is right at the entrance practically to Canyonlands and Arches Ntl Park....it's really not out of the way.

BTW - be sure to check out the rock shop on the north end of town......you'll see stuff there you don't normally see.....like dinosaur bones and a 40 foot petrified tree. :)
  • We stayed at Spanish Trail RV Park last May and liked it. It's about 3 miles south of Moab.

So much to see around Moab!
  • we stayed at the KOA in south moab. plenty decent. nice little small pub/brewery close.
    bumpy
  • OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables worked for me back in July. $32 was the Good Sam rate but I believe the Passport America rate is around $21
Sites were gravel but level and long enough to stay hooked up to my 35 ft 5th wheel. WIFI was a little on the iffy side.
This park is on the south side of Moab close to everything and away from the HWY noise
  • Depends on your rig - but Canyonlands has several NP campgrounds - easy access, but no hook ups.

Dead Horse State Park has electric, no water - nice park tho.

Other full service private parks in the area, but we always stay in the NP ...
Along the river, back up the canyon east of Moab, national parks has several campgrounds right on the river. Tight access, and small units better in these -
