- Texas_Two_SteppExplorerThe two campgrounds at Monument Valley are forty-two a night, no hookups. We'll probably bite the bullet and pay it. How many nights should we stay to see it?
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWe love to boondock but never saw the attraction of Gooseneck State Park. It's just a large gravel parking area with no designated sites. Also, now it costs $10 to overnight there.
Gooseneck State Park
Monument Valley has a new dry camping area overlooking the Mittens. Beautiful view. It, too, charges a fee - not sure of the price. - TenOCNomad

In the movie Ft Apache, John Wane threw an empty whiskey bottle from this point. - WE-C-USAExplorerWith your rig, I'd go with Gooseneck SP or come in the eastside of Valley of the Gods.

No boondocking on the reservation other than campground($$)in MV.

CORRECTION:
Vally of the Gods IMHO is one of the better drives we took...we did not overnight there though...really pretty amazing driving back there (25 foot class c...longer would not recommend due to dips in road.)...i wrongly stated Monument Valley...which was nice...just liked Valley better. - johnnaExplorerNorth of Mexican Hat is Goose-neck State Park.

No boondocking on the reservation other than campground($$)in MV. - kknowltonExplorer IIThere is still a tribal CG there, but I don't know the cost. It's near the hotel. No shade, no hookups, as far as I know.
- Golden_HVACExplorerWell it is a huge Indian reservation. So a lot of the land is owned by the tribes. There is a very low cost campground run by the Indians when I was there many years ago, however they located a hotel at that same location.
Sorry that I am not much help. I did stay at Hite Marina while I was visiting the area. That was a nominal cost, I think $8 per night.
You might also look at this site, and see if anything is nearby.
