Mount Washington New Hampshire

We’re going to spend a few days near Mt. Washington in NH this coming summer. Does anyone have any campground recommendations for that area. We have a 32 foot Class A and would like full hookups. Thank in advance!
  • Franconia notch state park has full hookups.

It's officially Canon State park on the amenities chart below.

Near Mount Washington is a pretty big area...for example, Berlin is near Mt. Wash, but 45 minutes from North Conway...which is arguably the most tourist-oriented area in northern NH. There are two sides to Mt. Washington that offer non-hiking access to the summit. The Cog Railway is on the western slope and is in Bretton Woods, and the Mt. Washington auto road is on the Pinkham notch side (Eastern slopes).

If you want people and outlets, North Conway is your place.

The Franconia notch park will offer a much more natural environment in the midst of many major hiking trails and fairly close to the Cog railway. Most NH state parks do not have full hookups.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
  • Canon State park has 7 sites so you better get reservations if going in the summer.
  • Thanks for the information so far. Does anyone know anything about the campgrounds on Rt 302 near Bethlehem? I see several private CGs listed there.
  • Stayed at Glen Ellis Family Campground a few years back... real nice private
CG with a great laundry... swimming in the river was awesome!

Try for riverfront if you can... central to North Conway, the Cog and other area attractions...

We stayed here as part of a two and a half week Boston/Bar Harbor/Mt Washington trip...
  • A few years back we stayed at The Bluffs, an adult-only campground. Mostly seasonals (very well kept) but a few transient sites. It had many amenities that we didn't use (too busy sightseeing.)
  • We stayed at Twin Mountain/Mt. Washington KOA. Close back to back sites but the deluxe sites weren't too bad.
  • Being a resident: I would say to look at RV reviews and pick out one in the North Conway area because it will offer a lot of amenities in the area and be close to the Mountain. We stayed at the Beach campground years ago and it was fine but not sure about it now. Should be enough to choose from to find something that fits your wants and needs.
  • x2 Woodstock KOA for FHU. Glen Ellis is nice looking, but no pet policy, so we haven't stayed there. If Mt. Washington is your goal, look at the 2 CGs just north in Shelburne - White Birches and Timberland. We use the WMNF CGs when we visit, so haven't used them, but they look OK and get decent ratings.
