Mt. Rushmore Is open

Mt Rushmore is open. SD Governor Daugaard has pledged to pay federal costs to reopen the monument.

Really doesn't feel that way with all the closures.

Never, ever belong to the states - these parks are national treasures, and belong to all of us.

You appear to be from the North East. Wonder if you'd feel the same way if 80% or more of your home state was "owned" and controlled by the Federal Government as it is with most of the western states. I agree with the original poster, the parks should be owned and run by the states, not the Feds.

  • Great news!!

With that our States should not have to subside the Feds to have OUR National Parks be open.

Our forefathers have to be turning over in their graves.

Washington should be embarrassed and hope you, the voters, remember those that continue to ignore us and our rights.
  • Again, this is interesting.... We are starting to see posts about parks and monuments reopening. One would expect to see that after natural disasters, but not one man made by our leaders. Sorry if this is too political and subject to censure. It's just sad and disappointing it has come to this.
