Munising Tourist Park Campground question

So in my haste to book a spot at this campground I overlooked the note that says our site has a 30 foot max length. They had 1 site left on the lake (I thought there was more a few weeks before until I figured how the system works!). our TT is 35 feet. looking at the picture of the site on line it looks more than big enough to handle a 35 foot TT. can anyone confirm this before I call to find out what they say. I just caught this tonight, so I will have to call tomorrow. our site is #12.

Yep - comes in real handy.... up on the tool bar there is an icon that looks like a ruler- click on it then move the cursor to where you want to measure and drag it to the stop point.
  • Thanks everyone. I called and they said "no problem". so that is good. sounds like it is more of a guideline. can`t wait, looking forward to this trip just as much as our Smoky Mtns trip.

JoeH. I didn't know anything about the measuring tool and I use Google Earth all the time. now I`m going to go check it out!

We were at an off the water site and had no issues... as I recall, I think most of the waterfront sites will accommodate your rig. You might want to go on Google earth and use the measuring tool to check the actual dimensions of your site. I do that all the time before I place my reservations.
If you are a Moose member, the lodge in town is a very friendly place to stop in and chat with the town folks
  • We were there three years ago. Everything said by others is true. It is very basic and had dreadful restrooms, but the location is terrific. We had no issues with the size of our site but we had to piece together enough extension cords to plug in the electric. It is a beautiful area. Enjoy! lizzie
  • We have been there once a couple of years ago and enjoyed our stay. Had no trouble getting a 40 footer into the spot.

Make sure you go see Picture Rocks
  • When we were there about three Summers ago, my 35 footer hung out toward the beach a little, but the site was fine and nobody objected.

    Hookups were normally situated.
  • The sites are SOME bordered by Rocks, Logs.....etc..
Their system Generally Would allow you to Overhang the back somewhat..

BE ADVISED.... this is a city-owned campground---- rudimentary at best ----okay there's not any exciting things,,,

Sometimes there are long runs for extension cords and water runs.

    BUT.....

It is right on the bay in Munising ----and it is fantastic views.

the park is basic basic basic so that being said it has been a couple years since I've been there but I'm sure they haven't added that much money to it..

However it is Right scross the Road from a Large Wetland..and I have Witnessed Blue Herron, Sandhill Cranes etc...Landing and Hanging out there.

MAKE SURE you do the Pictured Rocks SUNSET Cruise..DO NOT do early, first cruise,(Rock Colors).

    Any other questions..fire away.
  • Give them a call, I would hope you would be alright, those sites are large. If not there are plenty of other CG's around the area. One is just a mile down the road at Christmas, another at Autrain lake, you can also stay at the casino in Christmas. Good Luck.
