Must see and do things near straits state park

We will be camping for 9 days at straits state park in Michigan. What are the must see and do things near here? We have 2 dogs so this limits us somewhat on the amount of time we can leave the camper,...

If you don't want to cross the very expensive bridge, then look up Sawmill Creek Park and Headlands Dark Sky Park. That later is a place to be on a moonless summer night.
