We prefer the KOA as its not so sandy and no winds blowing sand into the RV. We have stayed at Lakewood and Ocean Lakes, but prefer the KOA. Some of the newer sites on the south side of the campground are very large with lots of mature trees on them. I am looking for a picture we took two years ago and when I find it I will send it on to you.

The sites I have stayed in at Ocean Lakes and Lakewood were not sandy. Matter of fact, only one site i've stayed in at Ocean Lakes was not paved. And generally those sites are a little further away from the ocean front sites.
And never had a sand blown into our RV ever. Still beats tryign to get in and out of the traffic there at Hwy 17 and also walking several blocks (1/2 mile or so) to the ocean (and crossing that busy road).
As hard as it is for you, and I to understand. There are people that don't go to the beach for the beach. They just don't like the beach. Me. If I can't walk out of my TT onto the beach, I'd just stay home, any thing else is a waste. But others just don't like the beach, but do go to Myrtle for some unknown reason. Why I'll never figure out. - wbwoodExplorer

Agree. It's a good long walk to the beach, across arguable one of the busiest roads in North America. If you are going for the beach. Prolly not a good choice.
Ditto...we stayed there one night (only reason we stayed there was because they were the only park that would allow one night stay during summer, that had a spot). Sites are normally what KOA sites are. But for the location (best to enter while traveling south on Hwy 17 because nearly impossible to make the right turn onto the street while heading north with an RV). Also, if I recall, it cost as much, if not more, to stay there than it did to stay at Ocean Lakes, which is oceanfront and lots more ammenities. - mockybirdExplorerThere are some public beach access spots on the ocean side of OCean Drive, but get taken up quickly each day.

Need some info on MB KOA. Would like a full-hookup site with enough space between neighbors. Site pics needed. Thanks
I think there are better, cheaper and ocean front campgrounds in the area. Its nice when you go to the beach to stay on the ocean. Maybe do a little research. I went to Vegas once and didn't stay on the strip. Somehow it just ain't the same. - TerryallanExplorer IIAgree. - Jim_ShoeExplorerI drove through it a few years ago while staying at Ocean Lakes. If it matters to you, its not a beachfront park. Its on the other side of US 17, about 2 blocks and a busy 4 lane highway away from the beach. I'd call first to see if there's a place to park a car on the ocean side or if there's public beach access.
