- e-lightExplorerJust got back from a week at MBSP. My family loved it. We did visit Huntington Beach SP while we were down there, a nicer more secluded park for sure, but further from the tourist activities that our kids enjoy. Not that far really. One good thing about the HBSP is it's in a good location for fresh seafood and some really good seafood restaurants. There are some fresh fish markets at Murrel's Inlet that are really good. Got some fresh grouper that was amazing.
As for MBSP, I would def go back. The sites are close together for a SP. We stayed in site 12, a full hookup site. The camp store and the camp hosts were awesome. The employees are great, park is clean, but small. If you enjoy the hiking and outdoors stuff there's not much there. It's a small park nestled in between some of the commercial RV parks.
It is right in the path of the airport. But to be honest I never really noticed much. We leave our AC or fan running pretty much all the time and I never got disturbed by the noise.
From the closest camp sites to the beach it's just a short 5-10 minute walk. The beach is nice, not overly crowded like it is in Myrtle Beach proper. The price was very good. I think I paid $210 total for 5 nights. Keep in mind there aren't very many full hookup sites, so you may have to bring a dump tank if you stay in a site that doesn't have it. The bathrooms were nice...my wife and daughter preferred to shower there to enjoy the endless supply of hot water.
We prob won't go back for a while, but next time we'll do HBSP. And just drive down the strip to the activities when the kids want to do that sort of thing... - mockybirdExplorerWe have always enjoyed MB on Memorial Day. But we go in the cg and usually don't leave till ready to come home.
The original comment would be referring I believe to this being "Black Bikers" weekend. It gets really crowded and noisy in spots around town during this time. I think the regular bikers weekend is the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. It makes for some crowded and noisy 2 weeks there. We have never had a problem there on either weekend, but as I said, we stay in the cg the complete time mostly. - magnusfideExplorer II

I thank we are going to go with Mbsp. We will be there the weekend after Memorial Day. What happens on Memorial Day?
Memorial Day = long weekend = mega crowds - Matthewc45Explorer

We prefer Huntington over MBSP, but when we do Myrtle State park we do have tons of fun!! - yrusosloExplorerP.S. Don't come Memorial Weekend
- yrusosloExplorerTake my word, Huntington SP for sure.
- TerryallanExplorer IIHonestly. The only thing I saw wrong with MBSP, other than too few full hookups. Is that the campsites are too far from the beach.

The park is very nice. The sites are mostly wooded and a little close together. We actually prefer Huntington Beach State Park which is about 10 miles away. Larger sites.
Double ditto. Huntington is more relaxing. MBSP is too close to the airport. - Jim_ShoeExplorerI tent camped in both as a child. MB state park is 5 miles south of the action (and crowds) in the center of the city, but its also at the end of the runway at Myrtle Beach Airport. Huntington Beach SP is another 15 miles south and directly across US 17 from Brookgreen Gardens. As a child, I expected that to be a snooze, but really enjoyed it. The statuary more than the plant material, but even much of that was trimmed into various shapes. The beach isn't as wide as the north end, but it isn't nearly as crowded. The whole area south of MB is just more laid back and a little more "old south", as in slower.
