Myrtle Beach

Which campground in Myrtle beach for 4/2014? I pretty much know it will be a parking lot. Doesn't need to be ocean front but I do want to be close. How soon do I need reservations? 23 ft htt 30 amp,two adults no children.
Is a shaded site important that early in the season?
Any wisdom you can impart is welcome.
  • X2 - Myrtle Beach Travel Park. I have been there that time of the month - was not that full.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park is actually in Myrtle Beach.

  • It won't be a parking lot that time of the year unless you're looking at Easter week. Also no need for a shaded spot. The weather will likely be wonderful.

As far as which campground -- I'd look at the attractions in the area and plan around what you want to do. We prefer Myrtle Beach Travel Park because it's closer to most of the things we enjoy doing, and also because it's a bit smaller than the big three commercial campgrounds to the south and doesn't allow golf carts.
  • Ocean Lakes
    Pirateland
    Lakewood
    MB Travel Park
    Apache
    Huntington Beach
All are on the ocean and I would make your reservation as far ahead as you can.
Lots of folks make their plans now for next year. April weather can go either way, but I wouldn't think you would have to have shade.
  • Look at Huntington beach state park just south of Myrtle beach. A nice park just across the dunes from the beach. The sites on the north end of the campground are shaded.
  • Won't necessarily be a parking lot. Go the first or last week of the month if you can-April school vacation tends to be the middle of the month. Myrtle Beach Travel Park is great-right on the water, good location, a little bit away from the hubbub (it's actually in N. Myrtle). Give them a call and see what their bookings look like. If it's busy, book the site-you can always cancel. If not, just check back periodically,
