Nashville CMA Fest 2017 (6/8 - 6/11)

Anyone going with their RV/TT? The KOA closest to downtown seems to have filled up quickly so we are staying at the neighboring Yogi Bear 's Jellystone, LOL! It will just be my girlfriend and I on this trip but we're going to see what these Jellystone parks are all about as we have 4 kids between us.

  • WOW, thank you for the GREAT advice! It will be my first time and my girlfriend's second (although she stayed in a nice hotel last time). Thanks again!!
  • Not going this year, but went last year and two years before that. All at the Yogi, much, much nicer than the KOA in this instance. Not a lot of shade, so ask for it in advance if you can - it was hot, hot, hot. We took box fans to plug in outside and use under our canopy while we were outside.

Uber and Lyft are your friend. The campground does have a bus that shuttles (and isn't that cheap), but it's limited in times and doesn't run very late at night, so if you're not out of the concert right away, you could very well miss the last bus. We actually paid less for 4 of us to split the uber trips than if we had used the shuttle or regular taxis. It's about a half hour into town if traffic is bad. They do try to add a surcharge after the concerts, so we would just walk a block or so off the beaten path and the surcharge would be gone. We had both apps, so we just compared prices and chose the cheaper one.

There is a camping world right down from the campground - useful to waste some time and more useful if you actually need something.

Downtown during the day is packed, but still amazing to hear the various concerts and such. Take water bottles, those spritzing fans, sunscreen, visors, etc. If you plan right, it's not bad, but the first year we just went, and we didn't have stuff to keep us cool. For the riverfront, it's really full, but this year they had an overspill area about a block down with the concert on big screens and NO one there. Green grass, place to throw some frisbee, and a few big cooling fans/spritzers. Highly recommend it if you are not into crowds.

The nighttime concerts are just wonderful - no other way to see that many artists in one place for that good of a price. Downtown is also wonderful, but tough after the concerts. If you're going a few days early, hit downtown early in the week. Tootsies, The Stage, White Horse...all have live bands, and they are all really quite good.

Have a great time - it's a great gig, except for the heat lol.
