Nashville is flooded.

We have had 2 days of severe weather across the state. News is reporting over 13 inches of rain in those 2 days. Anyone with plans on going to Nashville had better call and see if the campgrounds are flooded out.
  • We drove through Nashville on our way to Texas a few days before the storms. I saw that they had flooding so we took the bypass that goes way around Nashville and had no problem.

Did they leave those dam gates closed AGAIN? This happened back in 2010 when my daughter lived there. She was lucky. She lived in Hendersonville, and most of her neighborhood had sewage back-ups.That was one stinky area for quite some time.

No, not an issue with the dams or water management. Just a lot of rain in a short time, on ground that was already wet.

An additional culprit is the insane amount of building and development that has gone on in Nashville recently. Water that previously would have been held in the ground in a wooded area is now running straight off that new parking lot or driveway or roof, and right into the area waterways.

This event was not as widespread as the 2010 flood, thank goodness.

  • Even the local TV news in Los Angeles is reporting on TN flooding. Tragic.
