Nashville, St. Louis and K.C.

Hi Everyone,

We will be heading to our summer job in the west in April. Our route will take us through Nashville, St. Louis and Kansas City before heading west across the plains.

We will have a day in each of these cities. I am looking for the not to be missed attractions in each city. The Opry is sold out so we are looking for other ideas. We will see the arch in St. Louis and it looks like we can probable spend the day around that area. No ideas for K.C.

Also RV parks for St.L. and K.C.

Thanks as always
  • If you are interested in such things there is a Harley Davidson plant near KC. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
  • We were in KC last summer and we really enjoyed the Harry Truman museum and the tour of his home.
  • We also stay at Casino Queen just across the Mississippi River from the Arch. There is great security at the casino and I think you could overnight in one of their parking lots if you did not want to stay in the campground. We went across the river via the Metro stop located by the Casino. Security will even pick you up and take you to the Metro. In Nashville, we stay at the KOA on Music Valley Drive and take the Downtown Shuttle (fee) so we do not have to worry about finding parking for our dually and we might want to have a libation. There are two additional campgrounds next to the KOA. The KOA has better sized sites for our big 5th wheel. The Country Music Hall of Fame is a must see along with the Ryman. Can't help with KC.
  • In Nashville, we stayed at Cages Bend, on the shores of Hickory Lake. Very nice park and not too far from all the action....Dennis

  • Nashville has a full size reproduction of the Parthenon in Greece that is not to be missed.
Take the tour and shut the 10 ton brass doors with one finger
  • We stayed at the casino right across the river from the Arch in St. Louis. I'd stay out of Ferguson...:W.....Dennis

If you stay there, be sure to visit the park just south of the campground. There's a huge tower that overlooks the river and the arch. There's a geyser they shoot up every day. It's visible from the campground but it's better seen at the park....Dennis

    Gateway Geyser
  • The CG we have enjoyed near STL is Red Barn Rendezvous in Edwardsville, IL, across the river from STL. Perhaps a 20-minute drive into town (unless it's rush hour, of course). The CG has sites with elec & water, small & friendly, clean facilities.
