National Park Service has it all wrong!!??

I believe the NPS should change what they charge for the NPS passes.

right now the cost are as follows.

America the Beautiful Annual pass- $80
America the Beautiful Senior pass- $10
America the Beautiful Access pass- free for permanently disabled.
America the Beautiful military pass- free to active military.

The Annual pass should cost only $50 and the Senior Pass should be $80. (that is lifetime.)

10 bucks for something that last a lifetime after age 62 is crazy. Just goes to show how little government knows about cost to run stuff.

Me i am looking forward to getting my Senior pass in 2 yrs and if I have to pay 80 bucks for it then its still a STEAL..

  • I agree with the OP. My Geezer pass is such a deal, that we "loose it" every other year and buy a new one. The way we look at it is that our National Parks have given more to us over our lifetimes than we could ever return. We have left the bulk of our estate to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy to promote education in Rocky Mountain National Park.
  • Since you feel it is not enough You are always free to make a donation of the difference in amount to the park service.
    That would help them.

Perhaps "the cost to run stuff" wasn't a consideration when they set up their fee schedule. ;)
  • When you get your senior pass for $10 and think it really should be $80, you can send the difference to:

    Gifts to the United States
    U.S. Department of the Treasury
    Credit Accounting Branch
    3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D
    Hyattsville, MD 20782.

Put your money where your mouth is!
  • Shhh. Don't give them ideas, they might raise the senior pass price to $800.
