Thanks for the replies, the longest we'll be in one spot is 3 nights. So I just have to make sure I can make it that long on battery power and I think I'll forget about the generator.
On a side note, while I'm in the process of reserving my last few National Park sites. Of course I waited to long and there are no "Trailer" sites left, but when I click "RV" sites there are plenty with 25-30 foot lengths, is there any reason I can't fit my 21' trailer in these spots, unhook, then parks the truck next to it?

I will tell you that your furnance will be on at Glacier and possibility Yellowstone at night. If you have one or two 12 v batteries you will need to charge them daily. The furnance will use them up. I recommend you bring at least one generator with you on this trip. You need to determine your needs to decide what size of generator you would need. If you do a search, you will find a lot of threads on this subject.
As far as RV versus Trailer sites, many National Park sites are just wide spots in the road where you park parallel to the road. You may not have swing room to position your trailer in the spot. This happened to us at Yosemite - we had a 40' site and it was impossible to place our 32' trailer in the site. Large rocks bordered the site so I wasn't able to swing and come back in. I would try to call each Campground for more information.
Ok, thanks for the heads up. We are headed to maine next weekend for 2 nights and will be using the furnace. We have hookups, but I think I'll see how long we make it without being plugged in!
