I agree with the others. You will be doing a lot of driving. We are also from Pa and went to Yellowstone in mid May.It was 5 days of driving just to get to the park. Then we spent 4 days in the park and honestly we could have used 2 more. The park is huge, about the size of Rhode Island. If you go in the summer you will also have buffalo and bear jams making it longer to get around. As to the generator, I would say get it if for nothing else ,to charge batteries. We have 2 -12 volt group 24 batteries. Normally they will last for 4 or 5 days if not running the furnace. But in Yellowstone, every night the temps dropped into the high 30's and the furnace fan sucks up a lot of power I would run the genny every morning for about an hour and in the evening about the same.We have a Honda EU2000. Light weight and quiet. But it won;t do the A/C. As others have said, most places you won't need A/C but you might need it to recharge after running the furnace.Honda's EU 2000 is about $1,000.They also make a light weight EU3000 but it's about $2,000. Champion makes a 3100 that has gotten some nice reviews. I have heard it running for A/C and it was fairly quiet. They sell for around $800.
