Need 3 Private cg in UP of Michigan

Since we want full hookups and want to make reservations, can someone make suggestions for a private cg near Tahquamenon Falls, one near Pictured Rock and one near Keweenaw peninsula. We don't need pools or children's activities. Just looking for a nice atmosphere with hookups.

Understandable, I missed it also on the first pass but I knew that I had been there years ago and I always try for FHU sites.

There is also a casino in Baraga that that has FHU sites. Never been there so I don't know if a reservation(humor) is possible?
  • I did notice a comment on RV Reviews this morning that many sites do not have FHU. So maybe an early reservation would be wise to be sure you get one.

By the way, Brockway Mountain drive is nice. Pack a lunch and enjoy the view even more.
  • JRS & B,

Very understandable error, probably just got a little confused by the name "Fanny Hooe"! Ain't no hooe's in the ground there to dump it in... haha

If by Keweenaw you mean the tip of the peninsula around Copper Harbor, you probably will not find FHU's. More likely just electric. It is hard to justify making big investments in a campground when the summer season is so short. Houghton might be your best s.

  • Kentucky_Joe,

You can do your own private CG search by using Google.

Type in a city such as within the somewhat local area you want a CG in, For example Tahquamenon Falls Area: Newberry, Michigan campgrounds

View them all and what hookups they offer etc and a phone number to call.

Northcountry CG just north of Newberry has some full hookups. It's a CG and is keptup. Just one example. I'd call the actual CG to comfirm site size and amenities and then you'll have the real facts. Makes a selection for reservations much easier!

The "season" is short that far north and full hookups are not real plentiful as most do not need or want them.
  • We stayed at Wandering Wheels Campground when we did Pictured Rock.

The Tahquamenon Falls area is easy to get to for a day trip (i.e. flat roads running in straight lines). There is a KOA in Newberry and numerous FHU campgrounds in and around Mackinac city. I would just stay in Mackinac myself.

Mackinac city is actually a very small town built around the tourist attractions. And, despite being touristy, it is really a nice place to visit with lots of things to do and see, plus a casino across the bridge.

I'm not a big fan of pictured rocks, so I can't comment on the campgrounds.
  • Have not been in the Taquamenon Falls area lately

    Pictured Rocks
Munising Tourist Park on the shores of Lake Superior. Busy during summer. Probably need a reservation that is available online. Awesome view but bring a Hoodie. Night Breezes off of Superior can be brisk!

    Keewenaw Peninsula
City of Houghton RV Park on the Canal

Take the ferry to Isle Royale National Park if you want a long boat ride to a wilderness park. One of them leaves from the city of Houghton. Mine Tour in the city of Hancock is informative and interesting. Go north to see Copper Harbor. Beautiful drive through a narrow winding road. Go south to see the Porcupine Mountains and Lake of the Clouds. Use a local guide to fish for walleye on the waterway(the pros have a tournament here, fishing is good)
