Need ideas - warm

I have a trip planned from mid-Jan. thru first week Feb. _ Live in mid-Atlantic and would like to go somewhere warm but not to far. Original idea was to go gulf coast, but she nixed it. Flordia is out.
Any suggestions welcome. (Normally don't have a problem getting people to tell me to go somewhere hot)
  • Florida is the only "close" destination you're going to have that time of year. And you'll need to go as far south as Tampa before you get warm temps day and night that time of year. And even then frost can still sneak up on you.:B

Did a cruise in January out of Charleston. It was 81 degrees in Freeport and 80 degrees in Nassau.

It was WONDERFUL and less then $600 for the two of us.
  • I've spent many a winters traveling between Florida and western NY. It's reasonably tolerable from the Piedmont (Charlotte area) of the Carolinas over to the coast. In Jan & Feb, you'll get an occasional ice or snow storm out of the SW. About a day or two of rough travel and it's over.

Along the coast of southern S.C. and N. GA, highs will average in upper 50s/low 60s and the lows, between 38° and 40°. Hardly a heat wave but you'll gain about 10-12° above home temps.
  • If you can predict that anywhere near the mid-Atlantic will be warm in February, then you must have a working crystal ball. The only more or less reliable places would be South Florida, South Texas and the south southwest. Florida is the only close one to you. And even they can be cold. January and February are winter in Florida and we can and do get cold fronts. But it will be warmer than where you are.
