New Mexico in October

I'm looking for a camping spot in New Mexico for the middle of October. We would like to be in the mountains or somewhere with a few hiking trails and a possible trout stream. We would prefer full hookups but can live with only electric and water. I'm open to all possible suggestions.

    We have spent over a month in New Mexico, and stayed at the KOA in Carlsbad, Really nice CG, great owners and staff. The only negative thing we found is the distance between every town / city. But We will be going back especially for the Balloon Festival. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!

    We love to stay at Cochiti Lake COE between Albuquerque and Sante Fe when we visit that area. They have great, level 50 amp and water sites with a ramada and a dump near the entrance. Below is a picture of site 59 on a hill overlooking the lake.
