New Mexico State Parks Annual Pass

We have just begun our FT experience and are traveling westward from Arkansas. We have been RVing for many years but I have finally retired after 40 years of nursing and am finally living my dream.

We are headed for California (slowly)and have stopped in NM and bought a state parks pass as been recommended by several. We have spent 2 nights in state parks here in NM with many more to go hopefully. We stayed in the Taos area for a couple of nights then up to Pagosa Springs to private park to do laundry, grocery shop etc.

Now plan to go to NM part of Navajo Lake for a week to rest and recuperate from out last 7 days of travel from Arkansas.
Then we plan to head south toward the Jemez mountains for a couple of days and then into the Gila Wilderness area. Then I want to go to City of Rocks State Parks and spend some time along with Rockhound.

We would appreciate any input on NM state parks that you have enjoyed.

Thanks,
Sharon

  • If you are interested in Rockhounding then Rockhound SP should be on your list for jasper. We really liked City of Rocks. We didn't think much of Brantley Lake, nothing wrong with it but it is barren and treeless mostly and aimed at boaters.
