New York City

We would like to visit New York City in Sept.
Where is the best RV park in that area?

Walking distance to a train. Check out the reviews. 7.5 on RVParkReviews is pretty high.

It is close to the train station, But I would not call not walking distance. Maybe 2-3 miles? From CG to train station.
It is a decent alternative. Not quite as convenient or close as Liberty Harbor. But it is a FHU CG in a state park setting

I think under 2 miles but either way definitely doable on a bike

  • Keep out of Brooklyn with your RV trailers unless you like stress, agrivation, traffic, construction, and ridiculously high toll charges
  • Floyd bennett Fieldhas some camping in Brooklyn; it's dry camping, just a parking lot for the RV sites (there are tent sites that are a little more campsite-y), and getting there with an RV doesn't look especially easy to me. Liberty Harbor is probably a better choice overall for most people, but sometimes it's nice to know of alternatives.
  • As mentioned before Liberty Harbor is the only campground that is a 10 minute walk to PATH subway with connections to the MTA and everything that NYC has to offer. Also Liberty Park is a walk down the street where you can pick up the ferry and visit the Statue of liberty and Ellis island. And to repeat again don't go here expecting a camping experience, your there to see NYC. Campground is a parking lot with just the very basics.

    Good Luck!

  • We did this trip last summer. Stayed at the Newburgh KOA. Might not be the closest but was convenient. We took the bus tour right from the campground.
  • It may not be the best choice, but it is the only choice that is close. Liberty Harbor RV Park and Marina is located in Jersey City, New Jersey. Just a gravel parking lot with water and electric hookups, but great location. It is maybe a mile walk to a railroad that takes you under the Hudson River to the World Trade Center where you can catch subways to all areas of New York City. There is also a small commuter ferry from the marina to the city.
  • We stayed at Liberty Harbor. It is just above a parking lot, but close to everything.
