Another note about Slab City, and this is secondhand from people that have wintered there: The place has its own rules, and one of those is the law of the jungle. People I know camp there in groups, LoW having a pretty good camp with people watching over each other.
A sole person can be considered prey, and someone will be eyeballing who is coming in, how long they are staying, how tough they appear to be and so on. Leaving for a couple days might result coming back to a trailer missing things.
Oh, get an inboard generator... Hondas tend to vanish into the desert no matter how secure the locks placed on them.
