NH campgrounds

Stayed at the KOA YEARS ago when the kids were younger and back then it was a good point to stay with the kids. Drove by and still looks good and remember to check but I believe at Santas Village and Storyland if you pay to go in after 3pm the next day is free. That the way it used to be. Love the White Mountains

From Umbagog take an evening drive north on NH 16 - usually good spot for some moose viewing. Also - day trip east on Rte 26 - Screw Auger Falls in Grafton Notch (ME). Have a good trip! ST

Has anyone been to the Twin Mountains KOA? Thinking about heading there this summer...

Thanks loggenrock. never noticed Umbagog before...booked our first 3 nights there, then on to Mountain Lake CG (stayed there before) for a bit then down to Moose Hillock for 2 nights(looks fun for the kids) will then head to the Conway area for a few days after that. Going to try Saco River Camping area but they won't reserve under 5 days so we will just drop in and hope.

Danforth Bay campground in Freedom, NH. About 1/2 hour south of N. Conway and a good base for the White Mountains. Some of the attractions are a little bit of a drive but it's a great cg on a lake with a nice pool complex.

Look at Umbagog Lake State Park in Errol - they have several FHU sites, and more W/E. Also closer to you is Lake Francis State Park - not FHU, but several W/E. Umbagog is a warmer water/shallower lake - plenty of loons and even bald eagles. Lake Francis in Pittsburg is cold water - trout and waterfowl. They both do have a dump station. Also look in the Meredith/New Hampton area - NH Rte 104 - Clearwater CG is right on a small lake - Pemigewassett. Twin Tamarack and Meredith Woods are just across the street. Believe they all have hookups - never stayed there since I live about 5 miles away! ST
