Shaw Direct's signal covers most parts of north America, including Canada, USA and Mexico.
Canada
Shaw Direct offers a 60cm / 24 inch dish across Canada for reception of Anik F-1 and Anik F2. The Shaw Direct 75cm satellite dish will be required throughout northern Canada (Yukon, NWT, Nunavut). Larger yet for extreme north locations.
USA
Recommended antenna size for same satellite in U.S. border areas is 75 cm (30 inches), increasing to 90 cm (36 inches) for the rest of the Lower 48. A 90 cm antenna is advised for Hawaii. Alaskan locations should check by location; populated areas connected to the main highway system can generally use a 90 cm to 1.2 meter antennas. Areas to the West and Southwest may find reception requiring 1.2 meter and larger antennas. Reports from users all over the continental USA show more than adequate reception using the standard 24 inch dish.
Monday, April 18th, 2013 at approximately, 12:35 pm MDT, Anik G1 was launched into orbit from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Our third satellite is now in orbit, 35,786 km above the equator and will be fully functional in late May.
The new satellite, Anik-G1, will enable the largest HD channel launch in Canada to date and give Shaw Direct the most satellite capacity of any provider in Canada.
The rocket launch is over but our mission at Shaw Direct is just beginning. Anik-G1 will usher in a new era in our quest to provide our customers the next generation of satellite TV through leading technology and an exceptional customer experience.
