North Georgia camping

Never heard of them. Looked up their website and noticed their sites are on a river. There's been notices of flash floods for that area because of excess rains in North Ga. Use precaution.

They claim to be 15 minutes from Helen but according to several routing maps they are actually ~ 38 minutes to Helen.

Also motorcycles often make a lot of noise with certain tail pipes and as that campground markets themselves to motorcyclists.....

Thanks for the recommendations. Managed to get reservations at Appalachian Campground between Helen & Hiawassee for the 4 nights requested. Anyone camped here before or have info on this small campground?

X2. DW and I like RiverBend.

We stayed at Creekwood RV resort just outside of Helen for Octoberfest and to see the leaves change. Very small privately owned park but the owners Robert and Melissa go out of their way to be sure you have everything you need and that you have a great time. A short drive to Brasstown Bald where the leaves were beautiful.We will plan another trip up there and stay at Creekwood again. Great base camp for anything you want to do in the area. Riverbend in Hiawassee. It has full hookups and cable tv. Easy to get to Helen.

If you can't get reservations at any of the mentioned rv parks, there is Leisure Acres in Cleveland ( about 7-8 miles south of Helen). We stayed there in October a couple of years ago--FHU. They have a website.

We went specifically for Oktoberfest--had a meal and enjoyed the entertainment in the beer hall in Helen. I loved roaming around downtown Helen...the buildings and stores are so unique.

October is such a beautiful time to go--don't miss the waterfall and the little covered bridge in the area. Helen has a really nice visitor center and they can give you directions.

Also, if you happen to be a Nascar fan, you will probably enjoy the Dawsonville Racing Hall of Fame.

Paradise Valley is good so that you don't have to fight Cleveland traffic. Unicoi State Park has Fhu on the creek sites on Big Brook Spur. It's first come first serve so get there late Monday or early Tues.

Whichever you choose I recommend you take GA 75 Alt to come into Helen from the north side. Both Helen and Cleveland traffic can back up for several miles at that time.

Were renting site 134 with the cabin for the brother and sister inlaw. The park is located off hwy 129 about 7 miles north of Cleveland GA.

Check out Ga. Mtn. Fair Campground. Has full hook ups, 50 amps and lake frontage with an excellent view of the mountains which should be with fall colors in mid October.

Checkout newly opened Don Carter State Park on the north end of Lake Lanier. Only about 30 miles away from Helen.
