November in Northern Ohio

Will be snowbirding for the first time this year. Won't be leaving northern Michigan until early November. Figure on stopping in northern Ohio the first night. Can anyone recommend a good place to overnight, with easy access to I-75. Prefer a CG to a box store parking lot. KOA in Wapakoneta is all I've found so far.
  • I really suggest Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon, Ohio. Just Most people would say very near Toledo. Open year-round. Take a look at the website; http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/maumeebay .
  • KOA in Wapakoneta, Oh USA is where we always stay - exit 111 or 110 depending on if you are going North or South along I-75. Why? Owners are the best with a smile regardless of the time of day or weather. Also, close to all services, stores, malls, etc.
  • Twin Lakes between Findlay & Lima is where we usually stop - it is open all year. Having said that, it is now a KOA so other than the price going up, up & up, I don't know what other changes there might be this winter. It is right on I-75, very easy on/off.

X2 on Maumee Bay State Park. If you're more to the west Harrison Lake State Park is another good choice.
  • A little pricey but HarborTown right off I-75 exit 11 in Monroe, MI just before Ohio. Twin Lakes and Wapakoneta are about the only two with easy access to and from I-75 I know of in Northern Ohio.
  • Have stayed at KOA in Wapakoneta, Oh and it is a very nice stop over for one or two nights.
  • Isn't Maumee Bay State Park located on Route 2 east of I-280? If so that is not close to I-75...

I would second Harbortown RV in Monroe, MI...exit #11 off I-75
  • Check out "Camp Lord Willing RV Park" near Monroe, MI - I-75 exit 18 West. Nice place to stay overnight or a few days.
  • We have lived in Northern Ohio for all of our long life. KOA is your best choice. Maumee Bay is great, but you are going at least 30 miles out of your trip. KOA is 4 minutes from the road. Monroe, Mich. is good, but you wanted to go further South.
