I don't remember what storm it was but the campground got pretty tore up in a hurricane a few years ago-they have been doing a great job of rebuilding. We spent a week there last year, it was great. The pool is awesome; you can sit on the deck under the canopy and have "refreshments" while your kids enjoy the (small) water slides. There is a zero entrance side for the little ones.
You can reserve a site with a small shelter so you don't even have to pull out your awning. Like others have commented-the bugs come and go depending on wind currents (I'd worry more about jellies).
A trip to Jeannette’s pier, 16 mm-Whale Bone Junction, would be recommended.
