Assategue is great.Lot's to do. Take in the ranger demonstrations and keep your food inside or the horses will get it.The state park has one loop with electric. The national park has no hookups but 2 loops allow generators. We prefered the bayside campground because there is some grass and a few trees. Our site had direct access to the bay. Kiptopeke is about an hour south of Assategue but has full hookups. Huntington Beach State park in South Carolina is great. Some full hookups, the rest water and electric. Some sites are in the open and some in the woods. They have a small store. They have a good nature program which you should take advantage of.The home of the former owners is open for tours. You are about a mile of so south of Murrel's Inlet where they have a few good restaurants.Another great place is the Outer Banks. Plenty of choices with private campgrounds and National Parks Campgrounds. We stayed at the National Park Campground at Frisco. No hookups but you are on the ocean and the price was right at $13 a night with my Senior Pass. There's a grocery store gas station right across from the entrance. They allow generators. The Life Saving Museum at Rodnathe is neat. But any of them would be a long drive from Indiana.
