Off Season Camping Near Cleveland

I'm looking at camping my way across Michigan and then down through Ohio the week before Thanksgiving this year. There are a couple of things we'd like to go see in Cleveland, the Rock n Roll HOF for example, but just looking at google earth bringing the camper downtown for a day stop doesn't appear possible.
Does anyone know of anywhere to camp in November that is within driving distance to Cleveland?

  • Depends on how far you consider driving distance. Neat pt Clinton are several areas. Remember Cleveland weather can get nasty in Oct.

  • Just an FYI:

Majority of CG's in the Midwest close October 1.

Those you will find open will most likely NOT have water.
And another percentage will close the dump stations and/or not allow you to dump at the site.

that all said the one that stay open with limited hookups usually all have the public bathroom/showers open to use because they are in heated buildings.

Just call first before you make plans.

I actually headed out my first time as a full timer in October and did not know this. So I thought I'd pass it on in case you didn't ! :C
  • A couple of the nearby koa parks I tried are closed in November. Honestly, I don't need anything fancy, we can boondock in November no problem. Just someplace I can drop the camper off so we can drive into the city.

Findley State Park is open all year, probably about 25 miles west from downtown Cleveland. I'm not sure if the shower houses would be open, but it's a nice place for a base camp.

Here's another one, not sure if they're open all year or not: https://americanwildernesscampground.com/
